Our Causes
WOMEN ADVANCEMENT
Cause Summary

We create space for gender, social, equality and personal issues to be discussed without judgement. Our network group provides avenue for women to meet, and support, inspire, encourage, and advocate for each other.

OUR WORK INCLUDES:
  • Advocating women’s rights.
  • Building women capacities.
  • Changing narratives surrounding women identities.
  • Inspiring understanding on issues affecting women and girls.
  • Supporting economic and educational empowerment of women and their families.
WOMEN HEALTH
Cause Summary

We advocate for better healthcare system on exclusive health concerns that affect women such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, menopause, as well as productive and maternal health.

OUR WORK INCLUDES:
  • Advocating women’s right to health.
  • Combating practices that enable inequalities in accessing healthcare.
  • Inspiring understanding on gender, life stages, access to resources and diversity as social determinants of women’s health; and ensuring access to services and information.
  • Creating awareness and understanding on specific experiences and needs of women in relation to their mental health.
COMBATING DISCRIMINATIONS AND ALL FORMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Cause Summary

We adopt Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals, by promoting all actions to eliminate root causes of discriminations against women of African descent in public and private spheres – to achieve gender equality and empower them.

OUR WORK INCLUDES:
  • Identifying and promoting best practices related to the elimination of laws that discriminate against women.
  • Promoting gender equality.
  • Ensuring domestic violence is regarded as violence against human, not a private or family matter.
  • Supporting measures and legislations to supress all forms of trafficking and sexual exploitation of women and girls.

 

RECOGNITION, JUSTICE AND DEVELOPMENT
Cause Summary

We identify with International decade for People of African descent 2015-2024 and International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. In doing this, we recognise that people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be promoted and protected.

OUR WORK INCLUDES:
  • Identifying and promoting best practices related to respect of human rights and fundamental freedom of people of African descent.
  • Promoting diversity towards cultural development and inclusion of people of African descent in Ireland.
  • Supporting legal frameworks, policies and programmes to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance faced by people of African descent, especially women and their families.
INTEGRATION AND INCLUSION
Cause Summary

We believe people from disadvantaged or minority groups should have a voice in the community and participate with equal rights as host community, to live the life of their dream to their fullest potential without discrimination.

OUR WORK INCLUDES:
  • Getting involved and supporting community development activities.
  • Eliminating discrimination and promoting equality and human rights.
  • Creating and promoting activities that strengthen, bridge gaps and unite communities.
  • Responding to new and emerging issues, challenges and opportunities and providing a firm basis for community development.
